DanskWhere the listings come from
PublicToilet.dk lists toilets from named, licensed sources only. This page is the public registry: every live dataset with its licence, the attribution we owe its publisher, and how often we refresh it.
Live sources
“Last import” is the most recent import that completed successfully. Imports are content-hashed, so an unchanged feed keeps a listing fresh only while the source itself last changed recently.

These are the attribution lines the licences require; they also appear wherever the data is shown:
Map tiles are served from our own storage (Protomaps PMTiles built from OpenStreetMap data): map data © OpenStreetMap contributors under ODbL, tiles © Protomaps. Place search is proxied through our own server; results carry “Powered by Geoapify” attribution while Geoapify is the active geocoder.

The licences in plain words
CC0 (Copenhagen TMF) places the inventory in the public domain: free to use, also commercially, with no attribution required — we credit the city anyway. The Open Data DK licence (Copenhagen, other administrations) likewise permits reuse with source attribution. Frederiksberg’s register is CC BY 4.0: free to share and adapt for any purpose, provided Frederiksberg Kommune is credited. Licence metadata is preserved per record through our import pipeline.
Planned sources
- GeoFA (planned) — the shared municipal facility registry with nationwide coverage; our survey counted around 2,269 toilet records across 75 of Denmark’s 98 municipalities. Licence CC BY; field completeness varies substantially and will be shown honestly.
- OpenStreetMap (planned) — community-mapped toilets for gap coverage and complementary details; our survey counted roughly 4,732 Danish toilet objects, of which about 2,089 carry wheelchair information. OSM-derived values stay identifiable in our provenance data, and redistribution would carry ODbL share-alike obligations.
Corrections and reuse
If a publisher or a visitor spots an error, the fastest route is the report link on the facility page. We do not currently offer a bulk download or public data API; combining these datasets for redistribution — especially anything containing OpenStreetMap-derived data — carries licence obligations (ODbL share-alike among them) that we handle deliberately, never silently.
